Denver Neighborhood Diary: City Park

Dear Denver Diary,

What better way to celebrate the arrival of Spring Weather in Denver than a day at City Park, the largest park in the city. You can find this residential area surrounded by the following:  East Colfax, East 23rd Ave, Downing and York. Locals residing in this neighborhood get the luxury of enjoying the 360 days of sunshine here. Not only is it home to the City Park Jazz Festival, but also Denver Zoo and the Denver Museum of Nature & Science. Lots of options to get outside and get active at the tennis courts as well as the baseball, soccer and football fields. Hang out around the two lakes, historical monuments, the picnic sites, or one of the two playgrounds.

City Park is the perfect place for young professionals or families not quite ready to surrender to suburbia life. Buyers can look to purchase a property anywhere from $455K all the way up to $3M. Monthly rental prices vary from $795 to $3.2K. This urban neighborhood’s real estate is somewhat dense but offers single family homes with yards, attached dwellings, and an abundance of condominiums to choose from. Multi-level victorian homes, craftsman bungalows, a plethora of duplexes, and some rustic/modern condos; City Park will surely have something that meets your criteria.

If you find yourself in City Park looking to fulfill a brunch craving, head to Syrup for a nice family friendly environment. The Goods on Colfax, a neighborhood favorite, offers the perfect menu catering to your family and friend’s different needs. They also host comedy nights and other events that support the MaxFund, a no-kill, animal adoption shelter that gives the injured, abondoned and abused a second chance. If you’re looking to represent our wonderful state through wardrobe, you can pick up all your Colorado swag at Coloradical.

Denver Neighborhood Diary: Santa Fe Art District

Dear Denver Diary,

After one visit to this neighborhood, we’ll plan on seeing you back here every first Friday of every month. That’s right, we’re taking you to the Santa Fe Art District. This area of Denver is extremely culture rich with Hispanic roots and the beauty really shows through the murals, restaurants and galleries. Known as the “First Friday Art Walks,” Denver Metro residents flock to the Santa Fe Art District on the first Friday of every month to check out the abundance of art exhibitions offering free entries, open late to the public. And for those serious art collectors, they get the chance at a first look at the “Third Friday Collector’s Preview.”

The Santa Fe Art District is loaded with some very desirable commercial real estate. Indulge in a little Latin-inspirited architecture in this area, with all the classic structures coated with vibrant colors and some stunning painted murals. For an innovative entrepreneur or a talented art curator, a live/work space (mixed use property) could have the potential for great success.

Find somewhere to eat, drink or play all day in this neighborhood. Santa Fe is your go-to for authentic Mexican cuisine. Denver Neighborhood Diary: LoHi

Dear Denver Diary,

We are heading north this month for some epic Denver Skyline views! Welcome to the Denver Highlands. With an abundance of entertainment and a very hip vibe, this is the perfect neighborhood to take your visitors, clients, family and friends.. The Highlands is notorious for rooftop hangouts, local shops, art galleries, and some contemporary bar & restaurant options. This vast, urban area is divided into three major districts for exploring:  LoHi (Lower Highlands), Tennyson Street, Highlands Square.

The Lower Highlands, known as LoHi, was originally its own town called Highland. Highland was one of the earliest towns in Denver. It historically has been a diverse neighborhood, welcoming everyone regardless of ethnic background. The cultural diversity in LoHi is alive and well even today, some of the cities finest and foreign inspired restaurants in this area. Particularly, Linger, one of Denver’s finest eateries samples mixes of street food from everywhere around the globe. This site used to be the O’Linger mortuary, which later moved to Hampden Blvd, however, the top quality design and attention to detail entertain what remains of the mortuaries history. Truly a must for fine dining in Denver.

Residential speaking, most of the residents in this neighborhood of Denver are about 20 to 35 years of age. If you’re looking to live in a neighborhood with a lot of nightlife, some incredible bars and some of the city’s best fine dining… look no further. Forest Room 5 is one of the best bars in Denver. It has tepees, fire pits outdoors and the whole vibe of being in a cabin in the woods right in the heart of the city. If you want something more exclusive, check out one of the nation’s best speakeasies, Williams & Graham, it’s hidden behind a bookshelf and highlights the roaring 20’s and the prohibition era.

This truly is one of Denver’s finest areas to live in for a well-to-do bachelor, bachelorette, or families alike. Keep an eye out for recently built single family homes as some of the best new modern architecture tends to appear in this neighborhood time and time again. If you’re looking to buy, as of this February, 2019, each of the properties shown on this article are available. If you’re interested in a tour or would like to know more, please contact us.

Until Next Time,

Words From The Walters
